Why This Internship

Build Real Clinical Skills, Responsibly

There are no lecture halls here. From week one you work with the material clinicians actually use: case histories, assessment tools, diagnostic reasoning and therapeutic frameworks, all under supervision.

Some interns arrive fresh out of a bachelor's degree; others are postgraduates collecting structured hours. Either way, the expectation is the same – show up, engage, and treat the work with the seriousness clinical settings demand.

  • Every module is guided by practising clinicians at our Baner clinic.
  • Everything happens face to face – this is an in-person internship in Pune.
  • Choose 1, 3, or 6 months depending on how deep you want to go.
  • You learn the ethics as you go – boundaries, confidentiality and professional conduct aren't an afterthought.

Curriculum

What You Will Learn

Four core modules designed to build foundational competence in clinical psychology. Each module adapts to your internship duration.

Please note: These modules are indicative and not fixed. The Training Head will decide the final coverage based on your involvement, progress, and total internship hours.

1

Case History & Mental Status Examination (MSE)

1-month Extended

Every clinical encounter starts with a good history. In this module you learn how to take one – the structure of a clinical intake, how to write it up, and the Mental Status Examination that sits alongside it.

  • How a clinical intake is structured, and what goes into professional documentation
  • Recognising symptoms and describing them in language other clinicians understand
  • Conducting an MSE, and what each domain is actually assessing
1-month interns: Theory sessions and mock case history taking with feedback.
Extended interns (3/6 months): Multiple mock sessions and supervised history taking with clients at the clinic.
2

Grounding Techniques & Psychological Assessments

1-month Extended

You'll learn the grounding techniques clinicians use with anxious clients day to day, plus how screening tools like the PHQ-9 and GAD-7 are administered, scored and interpreted – and, just as importantly, when using them is appropriate.

  • JPMR (Jacobson's Progressive Muscle Relaxation), 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding and Box Breathing – practised, not just explained
  • Screeners: PHQ-9, GAD-7 and more, depending on your duration
  • The ethics of assessment: interpretation limits, and communicating results responsibly
All interns learn grounding techniques and core screeners. Extended interns gain exposure to a broader range of assessment tools and deeper practice in administration.
3

Basics of Diagnosis & Case Studies

1-month Extended

A diagnosis is a starting point for formulation, never a summary of a person. This module teaches you to organise clinical information, work through real anonymised cases, and see the difference between naming a condition and understanding one.

  • Clinical reasoning: organising information and building a formulation
  • Case analysis with real anonymised material
  • 1-month interns work through Anxiety and Depression cases; extended interns add OCD, Adult ADHD, Personality Disorders and more
1-month interns focus on Anxiety and Depression case studies.
Extended interns (3/6 months) will additionally cover OCD, Adult ADHD, Personality Disorders, and other diagnostic presentations.
4

Introduction to Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

1-month Extended

CBT is one of the most widely practised therapies in the world, and this module gives you a working grasp of how it thinks. You'll learn the cognitive model, the ABC framework, and how distorted thinking patterns show up in real sessions.

  • What CBT actually is – and what it isn't
  • The ABC model: Activating event, Belief, Consequence
  • Spotting cognitive distortions in case material
PG / Extended level: Thought-emotion-behaviour cycle, Behavioural Activation, CBT worksheets, and practical exercises to deepen your understanding of how CBT works in practice.
Certification

Earning Your Certificate

To receive a certificate of completion, participants must meet the following requirements.

Certificate Requirements

  • Attend all sessions. The hours matter, and so does being present in them.
  • Submit the assignments and written reflections – they're how we see your thinking develop.
  • Maintain the ethical and professional standards expected in any clinical setting.
